Thank you for contacting me about easing restrictions on angling.
The outbreak of the coronavirus has had a significant effect on communities across the country.Â
The restrictions that had been put in place to reduce the spread of the virus have changed our way of life, but I believe the British people have adapted to them with courage and fortitude.
The benefits of sports and outdoor activity are well known, I believe it is particularly important that we continue to look after our physical and mental wellbeing during this time. The safety of the public is paramount however, and this must be the Government’s overriding concern before easing any restrictions.
As I am sure you can appreciate, I would not wish to pre-empt the decision to be made on easing the lockdown, but I would be happy to pass on your comments to my ministerial colleagues.
