Outdoor activity centres provide a unique form of exercise and entertainment, making an important contribution to local communities. I recognise the difficulty that some outdoor activity providers must be facing during the coronavirus outbreak as well as the difficulties facing seasonal workers.
Since the lockdown started, I have been working closely with Outward Bound and outdoor education centres in Totnes & South Devon to offer support and look at what packages could be put in place to support them.
Having written to the Department of Education about their reopening, I am pleased that they are reassessing the criteria on a regular basis and I very much hope it will not be too much longer until we see these centres being able to reopen.
I will continue to support this sector in every way that I can.
