Earlier this week, Anthony wrote to local farmers to update them on the recent announcements relating to the Agriculture Bill.
The House of Commons rejected amendments to the Bill from the House Of Lords, but not before the Government introduced a significant alteration. We now have a bill that I believe protects farmers from competing against lower welfare standards; provides the opportunity to improve ‘at-gate’ prices, environmentalism and productivity; and opens the UK up to new export markets.
As he wrote in the letter, Anthony remains committed to the rural and agricultural community in South Devon, and hopes you will welcome these developments as he does.
