Earlier this week, Anthony spoke in a Westminster Hall debate on NHS dentistry.
Anthony took the opportunity to highlight the disadvantage that residents of rural and coastal communities face when it comes to accessing NHS dentistry. Countless constituents have been in touch with Anthony as they are unable to access the necessary dentistry services, including urgent care.
This is an issue that must be addressed with cross-party consensus and cooperation. Anthony asked the Minister for Patient Safety and Primary Care Maria Caulfield MP what steps are being taken to encourage the creation of dentist schools across the country, and to encourage more dentists from overseas to come to the UK. He also asked the Minister to meet with all coastal and rural MPs to discuss the issues they are facing. The Minister confirmed that significant work is going on to get more dentists to areas including the south-west, and she is happy to meet with MPs.
