Anthony Mangnall MP speaks in Planning (Enforcement) Bill Second Reading

Friday, 19 November, 2021

Today I spoke in favour of the Planning (Enforcement) Bill. It has been a constant source of frustration to me that developers can ride over and ignore rules placed upon them.

In the process of ignoring these rules, developers can cause huge damage to the land and as well as really infuriate residents.

This bill seeks to fine them, hold them to account and ensure there is a comprehensive database that stops developers doing as they please.

I am grateful to South Hams Society, Lock's Hill Friends, South Hams District Council Planning Team and Cllr Judy Pearce for all their input.

While I only had a few minutes to make my points, I am determined to see this Bill carried forwarded and included in the Planning Bill.

More to be done, but progress nonetheless.
