Our students have had their lives put on hold. They have made huge sacrifices within their communities to help the elderly, isolated and vulnerable. Unfortunately they have also seen the courses moved online and that university experience diminished.
Anthony therefore raised with the Minister of State for Universities the possibility that students can receive a tuition fee refund if their courses are not meeting the expected standards. She reassured him that the Government is working alongside the Office for Students to ensure that the quality, quantity and accessibility of tuition is maintained.
Anthony said "I continue to work with students who are resident to South Devon and I will do everything I can to ensure they are not short changed. It has been welcome to see that many have received refunds for their accommodation and I hope those that haven’t will do so in the near future. The Government also announced yesterday that an additional £50 million in funding is available for universities to help students facing financial difficulties as a result of Covid-19.
Students are therefore encouraged to contact their university if they find themselves facing financial hardship."
