Anthony visited The Apricot Centre at Huxhams Cross Farm in Dartington last week to learn more about their work as a biodynamic farm.
Marina and Rachel showed Anthony some of their 13 hectares of land and explained how their sustainable farming methods:
- Sequester large amounts of carbon
- Encourage resilience to climate change
- Promote biodiversity
- Produce high yields
As well as being an economically viable farm, The Apricot Centre also offers a wellbeing service for families, welcomes schoolchildren for farm tours and after school clubs, and provides employment to young people through the Kickstart Scheme. They also work closely with other businesses in the local community, producing their own 'Reclaim the Grain' flour in association with Dartington Hall's Old Parsonage Farm and The Almond Thief.
