It is no secret that the South West’s rail links need dramatic improvement - so meeting the Secretary of State to discuss how we might be able to improve and even restore our railways was very welcome.
Since that meeting, I have been working with local County Councillors to identify routes that might be suitable for us to bid into the Beaching Fund. I have also met with the Peninsular Rail Taskforce Group to discuss the entire network across the South West.
If we wish to take more cars off the road, produce less pollution and improve access across the South West then we must improve our transport links.
On another note, I am delighted that the Government has delivered on its commitment to introduce a railcard for veterans. From 11th November 2020, this railcard will extend discounted train travel to more than 830,000 veterans.
