The arrival of lockdown saw the departure of our service personnel from many overseas locations. Their repatriation was accompanied with the reassurance that their Local Overseas Allowance (LOA) would be maintained during their stay back in the UK.
Unfortunately, no sooner had they returned to the UK; they were faced with a new residual allowance meaning many of our service personnel would be forced to cover their overseas costs out of their own money.
This matter was raised to me by a number of residents in the area and after some quick investigations I am pleased I was able to raise the matter in the House (see here) and the Ministry of Defence responded in short order to address the situation.
I am delighted this issue was able to be addressed and I am now working on the oversight issues surrounding Overseas Loan Service Allowance (OLSA). If this matter affects you then please do get in touch.
