Protecting communities

Devon remains the second safest place in the country. However, there is no room for complacency. With 20,000 extra police officers recruited across the country and an increase in funding, we have even greater tools to deal with the challenges of modern-day crime.

Working with Devon and Cornwall Police, I have created a network of Police Hubs across South Devon where town and village halls are used to help drive up police visibility and drive down anti-social behaviour and rural crime. Working with Police and Crime Commissioner, Alison Hernandez and her Councillor Advocate scheme, I am supporting better Councillor-Police engagement and pushing for every crime to have a police response. My successful campaign to reopen Kingsbridge police station front desk will only further aid our work to make South Devon the safest place in the country.

Combatting crime is only part of the picture. Protecting our spaces and places is also necessary which is why, through my work with Torbay Authority, a Public Spaces Protection Order was introduced to safeguard Berry Head and Hopes Nose for future generations.
