I am aware that some residents are being forced onto prepayment meters by energy companies, facing higher prices than those paying by direct debit.
Those who wish to transfer back to credit meters are told that they may be charged for the cost of a new meter, and may even be without energy for up to a week while this is installed.
I took the opportunity to raise this issue with the Minister for Climate @grahamstuartmp earlier today, who agreed that people shouldn't be penalised for transitioning away from prepayment meters.
