We all know that Devon's farmers, fishermen, and food and drink businesses sell some of the highest-quality produce in the UK. I have spoken numerous times about the need for individuals to buy local and support these organisations, as well as for the public procurement process to be improved so better food is served in public organisations.
I was pleased to lead a debate yesterday on this subject, speaking of the opportunities we have to support local producers, improve food quality and diets, and safeguard the environment, all of which can be achieved by setting national standards.
