
Last week, I met once again with my South Devon Hotels Group at the Harbour Beach Club in Salcombe to discuss hospitality and tourism across South Devon. This roundtable group was formed during the pandemic and it has helped not only weather the last two years but has also highlighted some concerns and challenges faced by the sector in South Devon.
Our meeting began with a tribute to Keith Makepeace, the owner of Soar Mill Cove Hotel, who sadly passed away recently. Keith was a friend to all, universally liked and respected. He was a bright light and his hard work and insight will be missed by us all.
During the meeting we discussed supply chains, training, cost of living and national insurance. At our next meeting we hope to have Nigel Huddleston MP in attendance as well as representatives from South Devon College.
