Access to NHS dentists is an ongoing issue in South Devon, with no dentists in the area currently taking on new patients. Despite being home to the best dental school in the country, Peninsula Dental School, the backlog for dental services is enormous.
In a debate on the issue this afternoon, Anthony called for measures including allowing dental therapists to take on additional responsibilities, encouraging Peninsula Dental School graduates to stay in the area, and ensuring the Dental Recovery Plan is published immediately.
We need to be radical in our approach, so I will continue to work with Devon and Cornwall MPs to ensure plans are put in place to improve services locally.
