The Department for Work and Pensions is encouraging eligible pensioners to claim Pension Credit.

Pension Credit provides an income 'top up' to some of the most vulnerable pensioners, and is worth more than £3,300 on average. As well as providing extra cash, Pension Credit gives access to help with housing costs, council tax reduction schemes, heating bills and a free over-75s TV licence. Around 1.4 million pensioners currently receive it including 2,589 in the Totnes constituency, but an additional 850,000 people in the UK may be eligible.

The Government is launching a nationwide campaign to ensure that pensioners access the help they are entitled to.

It is great news that over 2,500 pensioners in Totnes and South Devon already claim Pension Credit, but it is important for everyone else in our area to claim all the help they are entitled to.
