Yesterday, I visited Berry Head National Nature Reserve, where Torbay Council recently introduced a Public Spaces Protection Order.
This PSPO unfortunately does not appear to be working as it should, as intensive fishing, littering and antisocial behaviour have continued in recent weeks.
I will be speaking to Torbay Council once again to see what more can be done to ensure the enforcement order is working as it should be.
We must protect this historic, beautiful site to ensure both locals and tourists are able to enjoy it for years to come.
The PSPO at Berry Head includes restrictions on the amount of mackerel that can be caught in certain areas, a ban on tents, barbeques, fires and littering, and a requirement for individuals to leave the area if asked to do so by Authorised Officers.
