The Chancellor has announced £5 billion in Restart Grants for high street shops and hospitality businesses, ensuring the hardest-hit businesses have the support they need through the next phase of the nation’s recovery.
Non-essential retail businesses will receive up to £6,000 per premise to help them start trading again safely. Hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses which will be more impacted by restrictions will receive up to £18,000 per premise. Further details will be announced in the Chancellor’s Spring Budget later this week.
Anthony says "This is welcome news, and I am hopeful that my campaigns to extend the 5% VAT for the Tourism & Hospitality sectors and to extend the Business Rates holiday until 2022 will also be included in The Spring Budget. Both of these measures would provide a boost to local businesses and allow them to capitalise on what is likely to be a very busy summer."
