Westminster Hall debate on International Development and Gender-based Violence

Friday, 27 November, 2020

Yesterday, Anthony hosted a Westminster Hall debate on International Development and Gender-based Violence. This coincided with 16 days of activism against Gender-Based Violence, beginning with International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on Wednesday 25 November and ending in Human Rights Day on Thursday 10 December.

As Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative (PSVI), this is a subject Anthony is extremely passionate about. Along with Members of Parliament across political parties, Anthony discussed the ways in which the UK can work with governments from around the world to tackle all forms of gender-based violence.

Anthony is already working with parliamentarians from across the world to raise the issue of gender-based violence. They are calling for Governments worldwide to protect funding for programmes to tackle all forms of gender-based violence; to work together to find new ways to support women and girls at risk of gender-based violence; and to put women leaders at the heart of our response to gender-based violence.
